Our Mission
The mission of the Rhode
Island School Business
Officials, a professional
association, is to promote the
highest standards of school
business management,
professional growth and the
effective use of educational
resources, by providing
programs, services and
networking opportunities for
the benefit of its members.
AWARD:  To recognize an outstanding School Business Official who exemplifies the
Profession.

SCHOLARSHIP:  To Award a $1,000 Scholarship (Donated by Aramark*) to an outstanding
Student, from that Business Official's graduating Senior Class, who will be continuing his/her
education in a Business-Related field.

RIASBO:   Constitutional Organizational Objectives Include:
  • Meeting to discuss and study all phases of school business administration.
  • Cooperating with any organization for the betterment of education.
  • Striving constantly for the highest standard of ethics, efficiency, and economy in
    business methods and practices.
  • These objectives are being accomplished by the combined professionalism, service,
    and leadership of school business officials in our state.

NOMINEES:   The candidates for the "School Business Official of the Year" are nominated by
their peers or school business officials submit nominations to the awards and scholarship
committee in early spring. The nominees are notified and asked to submit in late April a two-
page document that includes their:
  • Years of Experience in Field (Public and/or Private Sector)
  • Professional Memberships (With Monthly Time Commitment)
  • Community Service (With Monthly Time Commitment)
  • Awards/commendations earned related to above three areas
  • Leadership Roles
  • Accomplishments and all other information nominee wishes to offer

JUDGES:   Three active and/or retired school business professionals with diverse
backgrounds honor RIASBO by serving as the selection panel for this achievement award.

THE FUTURE:   This is an annual award to honor an outstanding school business official.
*RIASBO welcomes all contributions to build the scholarship fund and add to Aramark's
annual $1,000 scholarship gift so that additional scholarships may be given each year. We
hope to contribute to a business official of the future!
