RIASBO  is a non-profit organization whose members consist of :
  • School employees directly connected with the business administration of education in the
    State of Rhode Island
  • Officials and employees of the Rhode Island State Department of Education who are
    concerned with the business administration of the public schools within the State of Rhode
    Island
  • Faculty members of the various schools of education, colleges and universities in the State
    of Rhode Island who are particularly interested in the business administration of public
    schools.  
  • Associate membership is also available to any other persons concerned with the aims and
    objectives of the Association.  Associate members may attend meetings of the Association,
    but may not vote or hold office.
The objective of this organization shall be:
  • To provide the means whereby those engaged in the business administration of the
    educational institutions of the State of Rhode Island can meet, discuss and study all
    phases of school business administration.  
  • To cooperate with any organization for the betterment of education.
  • To strive constantly for the highest standards of ethics, efficiency and economy in business
  • To work for the improvement of qualifications of school business officials.

Objectives
The mission of the Rhode Island School Business Officials, a professional association, is to
promote the highest standards of school business management, professional growth and the
effective use of educational resources, by providing programs, services and networking
opportunities for the benefit of its members.
AFFILIATION :  RIASBO is affiliated with the Association of School Business Officials International
(ASBO International)
Mission Statement
Monthly / Bi Monthly Meetings
RIASBO conducts monthly / bi-monthly professional development meetings to keep our
membership up to date with  the latest topics regarding Education, Grants, IRS regulations, Labor
Laws, Payroll, Benefits, GASB, FASB, Energy Savings, etc.  These meetings normally begin in the
morning and are centrally located with in the state.  
RIASBO Newletter
Joel Lovering, Executive Director of RIASBO, with the help of the RIASBO Board of Directors, will
begin publishing a bi-monthly newsletter in Fall 2007.  The newsletter which is distributed to the
membership via email will contain articles written by our members, job vacancies, meeting
schedules, announcements, helpful topics, and advertising by our sponsor vendors.
Annual Meeting / Trade Show
The RIASBO annual meeting which has now partnered with the R.I. School Superintendents
Association (RISSA), is held each Spring.  The all day meeting consists of several high level
speakers that provide additional professional development beyond that of what our regular
meetings provide.  

Every other year the meeting also includes a Trade Show.  Nearly 30 vendor associates join in an
annual exhibit showcasing their most vurrent products ans services available to School Business
Officials.
